Loneliness is a complex and usually unpleasant emotional response to isolation; it is a universal human emotion that is unique to each individual.
A study by the Co-op and the British Red Cross reveals over 9 million people in the UK across all adult ages either always or often feel lonely.
Studies suggest that loneliness is as dangerous as cigarette smoking (Holt-Lunstad 2010), which is why it is so important to seek help if you are feeling lonely.
If you are suffering from loneliness, or you think someone you know is, we’re here to help you. Below are lists of local community groups where you can meet new people, take up new hobbies, and be part of the community.
